some resources & thoughts

Shoghi Effendi found great pleasure and spiritual upliftment while working on the translation of Nabil’s Narrative. The life of those who figure in it is so stirring that every one who reads those accounts is bound to be affected and impelled to follow their footsteps of sacrifice in the path of the Faith. The Guardian believes, therefore, that it should be studied by the friends, especially the youth who need some inspiration to carry them through these troubled days.

Magic Memorization Tool

For various reasons, memorization is more effective when one uses a crutch or aid which prevents the repetition and practice of mistakes. This little tool formats quotes into memorization tables with all but the first letter of significant words removed.

To memorize a quote takes three steps. First, read the quote 10 times, thinking deeply about the purpose and meaning of each word. Then use the "step 1" crutch version 10 times (the version with most words removed). Finally, practice recalling the quote on your own ten times. For the next several days, do the same thing but with five repetitions. It is also helpful if you record the quotes you wish to memorize and listen to them several times each day.

Note: This table is meant for printing and prints best with Google Chrome!
